Hey hey team, HAPPY SUNDAY BABES. A new week. New opportunities. Let’s rock this bitch. I hope you’ve all had a gorgeous week. I’ve been working away at my muggle job, taping, chatting to my friends and family and having many puppy snuggles with my doggy, Pip. Okay, Let’s delve in to this week’s post.
Let’s chat. Here’s the thing. So much of showbiz and the difference between you being offered a role or not is…your appearance. Our body types, hair colour, EYE COLOUR, height and even our own personalities can all have an impact on being cast in a role. I have had many occasions when I didn’t get a job due to something that I cannot change. MY AGE. I was too young. Too old. It is soooo heavily focussed on our appearances which can feel incredibly draining sometimes.

You would not be in the position you are in right now if you were not talented. My god, you deserve to be here. We work our asses off team, day in, day out so we can achieve our dreams. Your talent is your talent. Don’t let anyone take that away. You would not be stood in that audition room, in front of the camera in your own home self-tape studio if you were not good enough. Casting directors believe in you for a reason. They see something in you. A glimmer of that character. Own that. Casting is just one big puzzle. They are fitting people together, moving people around, adding, taking-away, replacing etc. IT IS NEVER ENDING. I know someone who got cut FIRST ROUND at a dance call (one of the most insane dancers I have ever met btw) then a few weeks later gets a call OFFERING THEM THE JOB. Yeah, Sorry. WHAT. The casting team auditioned hundreds and hundreds of candidates and the one they ended up casting had been removed from the process. Trust me when I say, you are NEVER out of the running. Use that story as an example. Always keep the faith.
The puzzle pieces. Sometimes, with casting it is a case of hey, so we’ve already cast this specific role and that person is 5’6 but the role that you are up for needs to be shorter than the other character. So, unfortunately, it’s a no today. Yes. It can be that brutal. Again, your height is something you cannot change. Yes, it may be a no today but your height could be the one thing in the next audition that lands you the role. Just because you weren’t what they were looking for with one project, doesn’t mean you won’t be EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE looking for with the next. Own every inch of yourself with PRIDE BABY. You have blue eyes and we need someone with green. No, contacts are not an option. It’s a no today. Thank you, next. Again, out of your control. So don’t stress it.
One day, you’ll get the call you’ve been waiting for. To be honest. That is what keeps me going. The day I get that call from my agent saying we did it baby. Ugh. It is the best feeling. I can’t wait for the day it comes around again. In the meantime, DON’T YOU DARE, change your appearance for the sake of anyone else but yourself. You want to dye your hair? GO FOR IT. Please, I beg, do not do it because a casting director said if only you were brunette when you have long blonde locks. DON’T DO IT. If it’s a decision you are making for yourself, by yourself and it will make you happy and a confident bad bish. THEN YES. GO FOR IT.
I love you all. Sending all my vibes and good energy that it will happen for us so soon. Keep the faith team. Have a gorgeous week.
Big love, always.
